Job: Security Technician
Job Description
Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment. The applicant will be required to interface with existing and prospective customers either alone or in a Sales Engineering support roll. Recognize opportunities for Hosted services including, wireless, IP Telephony, Data backup.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Understand and troubleshoot PRI and analog PSTN connections

Travel to customer locations

Trace cabling, data, fiber optic multi conductor twisted pair
-
Terminate twisted pair copper on 110 or 66 blocks and twisted pair copper jacks and connectors.

Recognize different types of fiber optic cabling

Provide as built drawings in Visio or Autocad

Programs multiple vendor switches, HP/3Com, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Juniper

Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation

IP protocols TCP, UDP, RTP

Installs telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, firewalls
-
Install, configure and administer a Windows, Windows Server and Linux operating systems

Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables.

Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.

Constantly update job knowledge

Job Skills and Requirements

Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Valid driver's license

Education and/or certifications related to communications technology preferred

Basic to medium PC skills in a Windows O/S environment (command prompt, device manager, folder structure, IP settings)

Basic knowledge of Visio and Access

Aptitute or background for working with electronics and communications technology

Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints
-
Ability to pass background checks, including PA criminal records checks, PA child abuse check, and drug testing checks
-
Ability to multi task and change priorities as necessary.

Ability to distinguish the full spectrum of colors in order to work with color coded wiring
-
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights over 35 feet.
-
Ability and willingness to lift 50 lbs.
